De-NOx by using SCR process:

The process of SCR (Selective Catalytic Recovery) is well known as the most effective solution in NOx abatement, which has been developed and widely used in power plant; pertrochemical industry; semiconductor and TFT LCD manufacturing; emission control of highway transportation, and non road application of diesel engine such as material handling; Gensets and Dynamic UPS.

Traditionally, the 「Liquefied Ammonia」(NH3) and 「Aqueous Urea Solution」 are normally used as a reductant in the SCR process, the 「Aqueous Urea Solution」 will be reacted with NOx in the reactor of De-NOx catalyst. NOx will then be recovered into non-toxic gas of Nitrogen (N2) and water (H2O) during the process of SCR.

The main chemical reactions by using the「Aqueous Urea Solution」as reductant in the process of SCR are shown as below:

  1. 「Aqueous Urea Solution」is decomposed to NH2 or NH3 and CO2 when the temperature above 160Co.

    CO (NH2)2 = NH2 + CO
    CO (NH2)2 + H2O = 2NH3 + CO2

  2. NOX then be recovered to non-toxic gas of Nitrogen (N2) and water (H2O) when reacted with NH2 or NH3.

    6NO + 4NH3 = 5N2 + 6H2O
    4NO + 4NH3 + O2 = 4N2 + 6H2O
    6NO + 8NH3 = 7N2 + 12H2O
    2NO2 + 4NH3 + O2 = 3N2 + 6H2O
    NO + NO2 + 2NH3 = 2N2 + 3H2O

The system of back up power supply including standy Gensets and Dynamic UPS of the high tech. industry located in the region of Great China, need to be tested on the weekly basis and running the diesel engine without any loading for 15-20 minutes, to ensure the back up power system is always in standby and good shape. The exhaust temperature of diesel engine is around 180-230 during the weekly test run of Gensets or Dynamic UPS, this special operation pattern of Standby Gensets and Dynamic UPS of running engine without load has made the De-NOx process of SCR (Selective Catalytic Recovery) for abating NOx become very difficult due to low exhaust temperature.

The chemical reaction ofSCR De-NOx Systemfor abating NOx, can only be taken place when the exhaust temperature over 250. If the exhaust temperature is less than 205, problems of SCR catalyst listed as below will jeopardizeSCR De-NOx System.

(1) The reacted Ammonia from Urea Solution in contacting with Sulfur of exhaust at low exhaust temperature will form Ammonia Salt, such as Ammonia Bisulfate or Ammonia Hydrogen Sulfate.

(2)   SCR catalyst will be built up by and clogged with Ammonia Salt, which cannot be cleaned, further more, the life time of SCR catalyst will be reduced dramatically.

The world classDe-NOx Grade Engine Exhaust Aftertreatment Systemsupplied by Trivision, a special heating device is designed, to heat up low temperature exhaust up to 250, and abating NOx effectively while the standby Gensets or Dynamic UPS weekly test run being carried out without any engine load. This outstanding system design, not only overcome difficulty of NOx abatement at low exhaust temperature, but also resolve problems of Ammonia Salt build up inside SCR catalyst, that allow service life of SCR catalyst can also been maintained.
