The exhaust from diesel engine of Dynamic UPS and Gensets contains large amount of Particulate or soot, which can only be decomposed into CO2 and H2O by heating exhaust at the temperature over 550℃. In the very early stage of Taiwan High Tech. Industries, lots of traditional design of 「Soot Filter System」or「Catalyzed Soot Filter System」with immature design were installed onto the Gensets and Dynamic UPS of Semiconductor and TFT LCD factories in Taiwan. All of traditional design of「Soot Filter System」or「Catalyzed Soot Filter System」have been suffered in problem of filters self regeneration at site, due to very low exhaust temperature when the engine running at idle. All installed filters must be dismantled from client’s site from time to time, and return back to maintenance workshop of contractor for the kiln regeneration manually, that increased maintenance cost dramatically and huge resource also been involved.
In addition to that, when remaining soot accumulated inside the soot filters over limit of filter soot loading, that will cause filters “Over Sooting” i.e. the filters will be burnt and melted by igniting remaining accumulated Carbon in the filters, which is a potential fire hazard in Semiconductor Fabs. and TFT LCD factories. In Taiwan. There are many fire incidents were found caused by the incorrect design of local made soot filter system, when Gensets or Dynamic UPS running at full load with very high exhaust temperature over 500℃.
In responding to requests from our key customers of Taiwan High Tech. Industries, who have installed lots of traditional design of「Soot Filter System」or 「Catalyzed Soot Filter System」with inadequate auto regeneration capability at site. Trivision provides special technical service of upgrading existing system from traditional filter design to the state of art patented system, which not only the Particulate; Hydrocarbon and Carbon Monoxide can be removed; but also the filters can be self regenerated automatically at client’s site, without
removal of filters for kiln regeneration. The traditional design filter system in ProMOS Technologies Inc. and Powerchip Semiconductor Corporation has been upgraded successfully both in 2005 and 2006 respectively. These are two success stories of system upgrade completed by Trivision.
